Testimonials

At the cat pound, nothing means more to us than seeing our cats thrive in loving homes. That’s why we’re proud to share testimonials from some of our most valued adopters—real stories that reflect the joy, companionship, and second chances made possible through adoption. Their experiences highlight the impact a single adoption can have, not just on a cat’s life, but on a family’s as well. We hope these voices inspire you as much as they inspire us.

“As animal lovers who believe firmly in ‘Adopt, don’t shop’, we were looking to adopt a cat and add to our family. We waited and watched as cats came and went, then we saw ‘him’. He was stressed in the shelter, fur had fallen out and was being fostered, and he was just adorable! Like most people, adopting from a pound abroad may sound daunting, as you don’t know the animals and the people. I reached out and made some enquiries, and the volunteers were quick to get back to us with information about his personality, history, approximate age, and were on hand to speak with at all times.

Their duty of care is above and beyond and he sounded like the perfect fit, but we still took some time to think it over. We had lost our last cat a year earlier and wanted to make sure we were ready. 2 days later i contacted the volunteers and told them i wanted adopt. The process was seamless, and was always able to contact them. I got photos, vet updates and little videos until his transport day. We were nervous as we are based in Scotland so this cat was going to have to make a long journey to reach us. The transport company reached out and provided updates a minimum of twice per day and we were provided with a tracker and appropriate pick up time.

This was our first experience with Whisker Warriors and we can honestly say that we are so glad we did this. They always say 2 cats are better than 1, and we felt that our handsome, forever grateful little guy, needed a friend. We contacted the pound again in October 2022 and adopted little Teddy.

Since then, we have adopted 3 more kittens from the pound and experienced the same level of care and commitment from the volunteers who work tirelessly. We had never adopted from abroad before and the concerns and questions were plenty. We have recommended Whisker Warriors to friends and family and would return again should the time come that we would like to add to our feline family.

“I adopted my beautiful boy Clementine from Whisker Warriors a few years ago, and i can’t praise them highly enough!

They really care for the cats and kittens and made the adoption process so easy. They do all the paperwork and arranged the transportation to the UK.

My boy is fantastic, so full of fun and a little bit cheeky, but i wouldn’t change him for the world. I highly recommend adopting from Whisker Warriors…go on, you won’t regret it!”

“I am a volunteer at the pound and I go twice a week to feed and care for the lovely cats there. It is one of the most rewarding things I do. It can be difficult to see a cat arrive at the pound in a bad way, but following it’s progress, gaining it’s trust, watching it grow in confidence and eventually watching it go to it’s forever home is incredibly rewarding.

Each cat has it’s own story and personality and they arrive at the pound either as tiny babies without their Mum, unwanted older kittens or abandoned adults. Each one craves the love, attention and food that the volunteers bring and I am grateful I can be part of Whisker Warriors team giving them all the second chance they deserve.

In the 2.5 years I have been volunteering I have fostered around 20 kittens and cats and two of them have recently joined my own cat family – Stealth and Splodge.”

Volunteer – Jules

“I’ve volunteered with Whiskers Warriors for 5 weeks after coming with a friend who is a regular dog walker.

The Whiskers Warriors volunteers are a hard working, kind, generous and organised group who have the cats in their hearts. I’ve fallen in love with all the cats and look out for updates, adoptions, fosters and needs.

I highly recommend joining or supporting this hard working group of volunteers how small every act of kindness makes a difference to the cats.”

Volunteer – Andy

“I have been volunteering with Whisker Warriors for a couple of months and it’s been an amazing experience. The other volunteers are lovely people and although it is hard work, looking after the cats is really fulfilling.

There are lots of different personalities, some cats just want hugs and attention, others want to play and some are happy in a quiet corner or on your lap. Building a bond with a scared little kitten that won’t eat and watching it grow in strength and confidence is endlessly rewarding.

It’s always a good day when one of the cats is adopted and I love seeing photos of them in their new homes. But they don’t all make it and there are sad days, we all wish we could save every single one of them. Making a positive difference in their lives makes it worthwhile.

In an ideal world there wouldn’t be any cats in need of rescue and they’d all have a warm and loving home, but the reality is some need help. Being part of a team that provides the love and care they deserve is a special feeling.”
